No age limit for the house of lords, but an age limit for magistrates? Is it time to set new rules?

By Henri Pearson, 27th January 2019

In the house of lords you are allowed to age way beyond 70 with some of the oldest members in their 80's, but age restrictions apply for those who want to be magistrates in their 70's. Why is it the house of lord members are allowed to work with parliament to pass laws beyond 70's but our elderly members of society who have worked retired and want part time commitments cannot act as magistrates given they are often witnessing cases in groups of different ages anyway?

New regulations in order for magistrates across the UK, what do you think?
