The festival was planned by Theresa May prior to her removal as Primeminister earlier this year, Boris Johnson announced he would continue with the festival set for 2022, the festival will be based on the festival of Britain which took place shortly after the second world war to give people something to celebrate.
CBE, Martin Green will direct the event, after being chosen by government as the right man for the job, Martin was responsible for the success of Hull City of Culture and Liverpool City of Culture, he also sits on the committee of the Japanese Olympics 2020 and played a significant role in the London 2012 delivery.
